Education Daily Quotes National PTA on Support of Draft of Common Core State Standards

PTA NEWSWIRE- Education Daily, arguably the education community's premier daily news service, quoted National PTA in the lead story of today's issue. The quote came from National PTA's statement released today giving its full support of the draft for college-and-career readiness standards that were released this morning as a part of the Common Core State Standards Initiative.

As an endorsing partner of the initiative, National PTA is supportive of the proposed fewer, clearer and higher standards and sees tremendous value in the ability of the standards to ensure educational equity among individual schools, districts and states. National PTA President Charles J. Saylors said the proposed standards offer the potential to ensure equity among schools, districts and states. PTA is an endorsing partner of the Initiative.

“Geographic or socioeconomic factors should not dictate the level of education that all students are entitled to receive,” said Saylors. “The great benefit of the standards is that they will ensure a level playing field among states, school districts and schools…”
